In my artwork titled “Something in the Sky,” I’ve created a visually dynamic piece using a predominantly blue-grey and yellow colour scheme, with touches of orange and red. The grey-blue hues in the upper part of the graphic are layered with various abstract shapes and forms, which I’ve used to create the feeling of a dark, storm-like sky. The layers are built up to create a sense of depth and movement, suggesting something significant or ominous in the sky.
For the land below, I’ve chosen a vibrant yellow as the main colour, which I’ve layered with different opacities of Payne’s grey to give a green tone to the right side of the graphic. This layering helps create a sense of texture and depth, reflecting the natural character of a highveld grassland.
By employing different levels of opacity and layering, I aimed to capture the essence of a highveld landscape, with its undulating grasses. The contrast between the stormy sky and the tranquil grassland below invites viewers to explore the complex relationship between these elements, evoking the mystery and beauty of nature.
