Bulb Root Sculpture

Description

Bulb Root sculpture is a striking, one-of-a-kind sculpture made from recycled materials, combining the organic and industrial in a dynamic representation of natural growth and balance. Constructed using layers of cardboard and paper mache, the sculpture takes the form of a bulb-like tree with a circular base that tapers into an elongated, trunk-like structure.

The lower part of the piece—its “bulb”—is weighted to provide a sense of stability and balance. The idea is that it would be able to rock gently, reminiscent of the swaying movement of a palm tree in the wind.

The entire sculpture is painted in deep, dark blue acrylic, with varied light and dark areas that accentuate the texture and form of the piece. These shifts in colour create depth, bringing attention to the curves and flat surfaces of the work, and highlighting the contrast between the smooth and texture areas. The surface is sealed with a waterproof coating to protect the work.

What makes Bulb Root sculpture truly special is its use of collected and recycled materials, breathing new life into discarded objects and giving them a new purpose.
